Volleyball
DESCRIPTION:
- Each district can bring one male and one female team to play volleyball against other teams.
AGE GROUPS:
- Participants must be in the 6th-12th grade by the time of Celebrate Life in May. Each District President is responsible for who may/may not participate from their district.
GENERAL RULES:
- The Official Volleyball Rules of the Illinois High School Association shall be followed.
- Each district may have two teams, one male and one female. Districts are to base their team on a method of their own choosing. All teams are amenable to their district council and sponsors.
- Each district NYI council, in harmony with the Council and the Superintendent, will determine uniforms with the district superintendent and the rule of conduct of Olivet. Shirts and shoes are to be worn at all times. Uniforms should be of matching color and numbered, front and back. Spandex pants/shorts will not be permitted. Failure to comply will result in possible suspension, or forfeit of match.
- Each team shall consist of a maximum of 12 members, plus coaches. Any team not able to begin play with 6 players within five minutes of the starting time will forfeit the game.
- Teams will not be given court time to warm up. Warm ups may take place in the Turf room or the racquetball court.
- Each district may select two alternates per team. Their names must be submitted when registering for Celebrate Life (space is available on the Volleyball Registration form). Alternates are only eligible to attend/participate in RCL when replacing a team member who is unable to attend/participate in RCL.
- Each district will garner grand trophy points with the 1st place team receiving the most and the 11th place team receiving the least.
- This shall be a pool play tournament (2 pools; purple and gold) followed by a single elimination CHAMPIONSHIP and CONSOLATION play off; best of 3 with the 3rd game being played to 15 as a tie breaker. In the pool play tournament, placement is determined by last year’s finish (top four teams).The remaining 7 teams will be randomly placed. Placement in the Championship/Consolation playoff is determined by the pool play outcome. The top 3districts from each pool will play in the Championship Bracket. The last three and two districts from each pool will play in the Consolation Bracket.
- In the event of a tie, the total loss points from pool play will be subtracted from the total win points to determine the placement.
- Play will be rally score to 25 with a cap of 27. Pool play will be 2 games. During the serve, if the ball hits the net and goes over, play will continue.
- If it is known prior to the start of the tournament that fewer than 11 teams have entered, the bracketing will be based on the actual number of teams participating.
