Nazarene Idol
DESCRIPTION: Nazarene Idol is an extra competition during Celebrate Life. Each district can select one entry to represent their district. Additional entries may audition for a wild card slot. Each entry can use any performance medium – vocal solo or ensemble, instrumental solo or ensemble, keyboard, dance, rap, speech, praise band, etc.
All selected entries will perform in front of a judging panel and live audience on Thursday evening of Regional Celebrate Life. The judges will select the top three entries, then a voting link will be available for the public to select the winner. The winner will be announced and will perform at the Friday morning session with all participants.
REQUIREMENTS:
- There will be up to five wild card spots open for audition to be filled at the Nazarene Idol director’s discretion through a tryout process. Sign ups and information on tryouts will be at the Fine Arts office in Larsen Fine Arts Center. Wild Card selections will be announced at least 3 hours before the show.
- Each selected participant for Nazarene Idol will be expected to be available to attend a pre show information meeting and attend and perform during the Nazarene Idol show. If a scheduling conflict arises it must be worked out ahead of time so the schedule can be altered.
- Each participant’s setup and performance should not exceed 6 minutes. If there are setup needs please communicate them well in advance of the show.
- Each participant will perform in front of a live audience and receive live comment and coaching afterwards.
- A Nazarene Idol winner will be chosen by audience vote following the show. The audience will vote for one of three finalists chosen by the panel of judges.
- The Nazarene Idol winner will be expected to perform during the following morning’s service
